Change debit card limit

Changing your card limit

You might want to make a major purchase. In that case, you can temporarily change your payment limit in the ABN AMRO app or on Internet Banking. Stay safe by reducing your limit again once you're done!

  • If you want to change the daily amount you can withdraw from an ATM or pay in a shop, change your card limit
  • If you want to change how much you can transfer in the ABN AMRO app without using the e.dentifier (this includes iDEAL payments), change your daily limit (find out how)

About the card limit

  • Your card limit is the maximum amount you can pay by card or withdraw using your debit card per day.
  • You can set a separate card limit for debit card transactions in shops (up to €50,000 per day) and for cash withdrawals from ATMs (up to €10,000 per day).
  • Your new limit will take effect straight away. You do not need to wait.
  • Your card limit will apply at all card machines and ATMs both at home and abroad.
  • NB: you cannot select a card limit higher than the balance on your account. Example: if your balance is €750, you can only change your card limit to a maximum amount of €750.
  • You can lower your card limit again at any time.
