What is a bank account?

A bank account is called an EasyPay Standard. This is a payment package and contains everything you need to do your banking: a bank account, debit card, Internet Banking and Mobile Banking.

You can open a single account or a joint account.

Who is it for?

The bank account is for everybody with a BSN (Burger Service Number) and a registered address in the Netherlands.

For students, expats and non residents we have a special bank account. You can make an appointment, so we can open the account for you at one of our branch offices.

What do you get?

The EasyPay Standard package consists of:

  • a bank account for your daily banking transactions;
  • a debit card for payment terminals and ATMs;
  • an e.dentifier (a card reader for your online banking);
  • access to Internet Banking and the Mobile Banking app;
  • the ability to withdraw cash from ATMs worldwide, free of charge (using your PIN).

The EasyPay Standard package costs  € 1.55 a month.

How can I apply for a bank account?

For non-students and non-expats
You can open an EasyPay Standard bank account online when you have a BSN (Burger Service Nummer), a registered address in the Netherlands and an EU passport. Afterwards we will make an appointment wherever and whenever you want. Our partner AMP Group will pay you a visit and verify your identity. After this verification you will receive your debit card and e.dentifier in the post within 5 working days.

For students, expats and non-residents
You can make an appointment online when you are a student, an expat, a non resident or if you don't a have an EU passport. Afterwards we will make an appointment at one of our branch offices. During your visit we will verify your identity. You will get your account number immediately. After your visit you will receive your debit card and e.dentifier in the post within 5 working days.

Deposit insurance scheme

The bank account provided by the EasyPay Standard is covered by the deposit insurance scheme. This means that you can be sure that you will get your money back if we are no longer able to meet our obligations. For more information, please visit abnamro.nl/garantiestelsel.

Next steps

First: we will verify your identity

  • Expats: when you are an expat, we will call you to make an appointment at one of our branches. We will open a bank account for you there and talk to you about your other needs. Within 5 working days after the meeting, you will receive your debit card, PIN code and e.dentifier.
  • Non-EU passports: when you ask for an appointment because you don't have an EU passport, we will call you to make an appointment at one of our branches. We will open a bank account for you there and talk to you about your other needs. Within 5 working days after the meeting, you will receive your debit card, PIN code and e.dentifier.
  • EU passports: when you applied for a bank account online (as a student or non-expat with an EU passport), we will call you for an appointment on a date, at a time and place of your choice. Our partner AMP Group will pay you a visit and verify your identity. Within 5 working days after the verification, you will receive your debit card, PIN code and e.dentifier.

Then: you can start banking

After verifying your identity, either when you visit the branch or when you have met with the representative from AMP Group, you will receive three envelopes:

  1. Your debit card: you can make withdrawals from ATMs worldwide. There is a daily limit to how much you can spend or withdraw.
  2. Your PIN: this is your secret code that gives you access to your debit card. If you would like to change your PIN, you can easily do so at any ATM from ABN AMRO. You will need this code for payments and withdrawals.
  3. An e.dentifier: this is a card reader. You will need this reader to do your online banking. With the e.dentifier you can log on to your account, make (international) transfers, download documents, etc.

The order in which you will receive the envelopes may vary.
