Excess

Excess

No excess applies as standard, except in the event of:

  • damage caused by precipitation or overflowing/leaking water, for example due to a leaking water pipe: €220
  • damage caused by a storm: €220 in case of landlord’s or tenant’s fixtures, for example if you lived in a rented home or own an apartment. If so, you have an excess for all improvements you have made to your house that cannot be removed when you move house.

After applying for the insurance, you can choose an excess. This will entitle you to a premium discount, but you will also receive a lower reimbursement in the event of a claim. Read more about this in the Bankmail message that you receive after taking out the insurance.

If you choose our all-risks cover, you will pay an excess of €100 per all-risks claim, including for the additional all-risks cover for mobile devices and the personal possessions cover.

Insurance cover amount

Insurance cover amount

In the Netherlands, your belongings in your home are insured for up to €150,000 per event.

For some events, your cover is less than €150,000. In that case, other amounts apply:

  • theft or vandalism of art, collections and antiques: up to €35,000;
  • theft of jewellery and watches: up to €7,500;
  • mobile devices: up to €7,500.

If your damage or loss is covered, even more costs can be claimed back, for example the cost of hiring a loss assessor or the costs you incur to diminish or prevent damage. For a comprehensive list, please refer to the terms and conditions.
