Cancellation Costs

Insurance for if you need to cancel or cut short your trip

The additional Cancellation Costs cover option insures you in the event that you have to cancel your trip unexpectedly. This could be due to a serious illness, an accident, or if you become pregnant after booking your holiday.

What is covered and what is not?

You are insured for things such as:

  • Serious illness and accidents
  • Pregnancy after booking your trip
  • Serious damage to your home
  • Damage to your holiday address
  • Involuntary job loss

You are not insured for things such as:

  • Travelling to areas which the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has put on the amber or red list
  • An event that could have been predicted at the time of booking the trip or taking out the Cancellation Costs cover (losing your job, for example)
  • Bankruptcy on the part of the tour operator

When should I take out the additional cover?

You can only take out this additional cover to your annual travel insurance if it takes effect within 14 days of booking your trip, unless the departure date is more than one month after the start date of the insurance.

Short-term cancellation insurance you can only take out if it takes effect within 14 days of booking your trip.

Insured amount

When taking out the additional Cancellation Costs cover option, you can choose to insure an amount of € 1,500 or € 3,000 per person. If your holiday is more expensive than that, you can take out separate cancellation insurance.
