Annual travel insurance

Why you should take out annual travel insurance

You’ve booked a nice holiday to look forward to. Annual travel insurance is perfect if you go on holiday several times a year and want to be covered all year round. It covers you as standard for things like extra costs due to a natural disaster or having to return home early following a serious accident.

Tip

What is covered and what is not?

You are insured for things such as:

  • Loss or theft of your luggage
  • Assistance in the event of an accident, illness, admission to hospital or death
  • Early return home due to illness or an accident
  • Longer stay due to a natural disaster or a strike
  • Damage to your tent during your trip

You are not insured for things such as:

  • Loss or damage caused intentionally
  • Loss or damage caused under the influence of alcohol, drugs or medication
  • Loss or damage caused by a dangerous sport
  • Loss or damage during business trips if you haven’t opted for this cover
  • Unnecessary medical costs

Weekends away

There’s no need to take out travel insurance especially for a weekend away. Our annual travel insurance also covers you for weekends away, whether you’re off to a popular European destination like Antwerp or Berlin with your partner, or spending a weekend with the whole family at the seaside.

Medical costs

You can take out extra cover for medical costs as part of the annual travel insurance. If you do not take out this cover, you will only be insured up to the amount provided by your health insurance. This is often only the amount you would have to pay if you were treated in the Netherlands. Example: admission to hospital for appendicitis in the USA costs €50,000. In the Netherlands, it costs €2,500. If you don’t have cover for medical costs as part of your travel insurance, you will have to pay the difference of €47,500 yourself.

Around the world

Annual travel insurance covers you for up to 90 days. If you’re going away for longer, that’s no problem. Simply take out extended trip cover for up to 365 days.
