Download the ABN AMRO app and follow the on-screen instructions. Enter ABNBEGIN in the promotional code field. Once you’ve opened the account, activate the ABN AMRO app and your new debit card.

1. Open an account, activate the app and your debit card and make 25 payments using your new card and you’ll receive the first €75.
2. If you open a Direct Savings account, you'll receive another €25
3. Save €150 or more in your Direct Savings account within the first 3 months of opening your current account and you'll receive another €25
4. Request an insurance policy through ABN AMRO and you’ll receive €50.
5. Request the Switching Service, confirm your request using the ABN AMRO app and you’ll receive €75.

Please note: you have a total of 3 calendar months to complete these 5 steps. This period starts on the date you open your current account. To receive a gift from step 2 onwards, you must first have completed the previous steps.

How to recognise the gift on your statement

The money will be in your account within a month of completing a step.

A few days after completing a step, you’ll also receive an email from us to let you know that you’ve earned the gift. You’ll only receive this message (and the money) if you’ve completed the step within 3 months of opening your account and if you’ve completed the previous steps.

It is a flexible payment package, which means you choose what you want in addition to your basic package. For example, you may want to have a credit card or an extra debit card. The Basic Payment Package consists of a bank account with 1 debit card and costs €4.30 per month.

You can open an account and identify yourself through the ABN AMRO app with the following forms of identification:

• Dutch identity document (identity card, driving licence or passport)
• International passport
• EU/EER identity card (except Greece and Romania)
• Residence permit (type I, II, III, IV, V, EU/EEA, EU/EEA family member)

Yes, you can easily open a current account using the ABN AMRO app.

After you upload your identity document, you will be asked to verify the details. You can change your name and date of birth if necessary. Your application may be rejected if the details cannot be properly verified. You can then restart the application.

If you want to open an account with a non-Dutch passport or ID, we need to verify that you live in the Netherlands. We want to be sure that you are who you say you are when you open an account. This helps us to prevent fraud, for example abuse of your current account.

For this reason, one of the things we need from you is proof of residence. You can open the account even without proof of residence, but you cannot use it yet.

All banks are required to verify the identity of their customers and ABN AMRO is no exception. This requirement is set out in the Dutch Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing (Prevention) Act and helps to prevent money laundering and the financing of terrorism.

You will receive information about the status of your application via SMS and e-mail within 4 hours after completing the application. Has your application been rejected?
