Promotion terms and conditions

Open a current account and get up to €250 as a gift

If you open a current account (Basic Payment Package) for yourself during the promotion period (16 March 2026 – 31 May 2026) using your plan’s code, we’ll give you a gift of up to €250. You can earn the €250 by completing the following 5 steps within 3 months of opening your account. Please note: to receive a gift from step 2 onwards, you must first have completed the previous steps.

The 5 steps

First download the ABN AMRO app and follow the on-screen instructions. Enter your plan’s promotion code. Once you’ve opened the account, activate the ABN AMRO app and your digital debit card. You can start paying with your account on the same day. You’ll receive your physical debit card by post a few days later.

  1. Open a current account (Basic Payment Package), activate the app and make 25 payments using your new account and you’ll receive the first €75
  2. Open a free Direct Savings account and you'll receive another €25
  3. Save €150 or more in your Direct Savings account within the first 3 months of opening your current account and you'll receive €25
  4. Request annual travel insurance through ABN AMRO and you’ll receive €50
  5. Request the Switching Service and you’ll receive €75

 

Please note: you have a total of 3 calendar months to complete these 5 steps. This period starts on the date you open your current account. So to earn gifts 2, 3, 4 and 5, you must first have made 25 payments. And to receive a gift from step 2 onwards, you must first have completed the previous steps.

General

  1. These promotional terms and conditions apply to the cashback promotion organised by ABN AMRO (hereinafter referred to as the promotion);
  2. This promotion is initiated by ABN AMRO, with its registered office at Gustav Mahlerlaan 10, 1082 PP Amsterdam;
  3. The promotion runs from 16 March 2026 to and including 31 May 2026;
  4. All persons participating in the promotion are bound by the provisions of these promotional terms and conditions. By participating, the participant declares that they agree to the content of these promotional terms and conditions;
  5. ABN AMRO reserves the right to terminate the promotion or amend the promotional terms and conditions at any time and without stating reasons;
  6. By participating, the participant declares that they agree to being contacted by ABN AMRO by personal email during the promotion period;
  7. ABN AMRO reserves the right to exclude participants from the promotion at any time if it believes that the participant has breached one or more participation conditions, has provided incorrect or incomplete information, or has acted in any other manner that is legally impermissible.

About the 25 payments

The 25 payments must together amount to at least €100 in order to qualify as payments.

Here's how the payment works

The money will be in your account within a month of completing a step. 

A few days after completing a step, you’ll also receive an email from us to let you know that you’ve earned the gift. You’ll only receive this message (and the money) if you’ve completed the step within 3 months of opening your account and if you’ve completed the previous steps.

You'll recognise the payment from our payment reference on your statement:

  • Gift 1 - 25 payments made
  • Gift 2 - Direct Savings acc
  • Gift 3 - You've saved EUR 150
  • Gift 4 - Travel Insurance
  • Gift 5 - Switching Service activated

Who can take part in this promotion

You can take part in this promotion if you:

  • are aged 18 or older;
  • have an official Dutch home address;
  • have a Dutch ID, a residence permit or an international passport;
  • don’t yet bank with ABN AMRO and haven’t done so either in the past 12 months;
  • open a current account for yourself in the ABN AMRO app (this promotion only applies to the Basic Payment Package);
  • remain a client of ABN AMRO for the entire term of the Switching Service (13 months). 

Other conditions

  • You can only take advantage of this promotion once, i.e. you can only open one new current account in your name. Joint accounts aren’t eligible for this promotion.
  • Your current bank must be affiliated with the Switching Service. You can check if this is the case on the Overstapservice.nl website.
  • This promotion can’t be combined with other ongoing promotions.
  • To earn the gift from step 2 onwards, you must have completed the previous step in the order set out on the promotion pages.
  • If you choose the Pro plan or Max plan, you’ll have access to the benefits of Preferred Banking for a year. You’ll also receive this as part of the Begin bundle if you take out an annual travel insurance and have completed the previous steps.
  • ABN AMRO Bank N.V. reserves the right to amend the promotion terms and conditions or to cancel or extend the term of the promotion at any time, in which case an updated, amended version of the promotion terms and conditions will be posted on abnamro.nl.
  • The promotion is an initiative of ABN AMRO Bank N.V. with registered offices in Amsterdam.
  • This promotion is governed by Dutch law. Any disputes arising from this promotion will be heard in the first instance by the competent court in Amsterdam.

Exclusions

  • If you enter incorrect personal data or if ABN AMRO determines that you have committed fraud, or if there are other irregularities, you'll be excluded from the promotion.
  • If you had a current account less than 12 months previously, ABN AMRO has the right to exclude you from taking part in this promotion.

Applicable law and disputes

  • If you’re not happy with this promotion, please submit your complaint to us. We make every effort to deal with complaints effectively.
  • These promotion terms and conditions and the promotion concerned are governed by Dutch law. Any disputes arising from these promotion terms and conditions and/or from the promotion will be heard in the first instance by the competent court in Amsterdam.
