Former client?

Apply for the compensation scheme

Have you had a revolving consumer credit facility with a variable interest rate from ABN AMRO, ICS and/or ALFAM (including DEFAM, Credivance and Alpha Credit Nederland) at any time since 1 January 2001, and are you no longer a client? Complete the form below to apply for the compensation scheme.

Important! If you are a former client of ICS, you can apply here  (in Dutch).

Who is it for?

You can apply if you have had a revolving consumer credit facility from ABN AMRO, ICS or ALFAM (including DEFAM, Credivance and Alpha Credit Nederland) since 1 January 2001 and you are no longer a client of that organisation. In the case of ABN AMRO, these credit facilities include products such as the Flexibel Krediet, Flexibel Hypotheek Krediet and Privélimiet Plus facilities and student overdrafts. In the case of ALFAM and ICS, the products in question are the revolving consumer credit facilities. If you are still a client and you are eligible for compensation, we will automatically notify you even if your revolving credit facility has been terminated.

Why have we set up this compensation scheme?

According to the Dutch Institute for Financial Disputes (Klachteninstituut Financiële Dienstverlening), the variable interest rate on revolving consumer credit facilities did not always follow the market rate adequately for all clients. As a result, you may have paid too much interest in the past. ABN AMRO, ICS and ALFAM have therefore formulated a scheme, in consultation with the Dutch consumers' association (Consumentenbond), for compensating current and former clients.

What will we do with your application?

Once you have entered your details, you will receive confirmation of your application. We will then investigate whether your data can be found in our records. Information about the rest of the procedure will be provided in 2023. It may be the case that we require additional information from you. You will be notified in that case.

Registration former clients

According to the Dutch Institute for Financial Disputes (Klachteninstituut Financiële Dienstverlening), the variable interest rate on revolving consumer credit facilities did not always follow the market rate adequately for all clients. A scheme for compensating clients has therefore been established in consultation with the Dutch consumers’ association (Consumentenbond).

  • Did you have a revolving consumer credit with ABN AMRO? And you don't have another product there? Then you are a former ABN AMRO customer, which means you have to register as a former customer using the form.
  • Did you have a revolving consumer credit with ICS? And you don't have another product there? Then you are a former ICS customer, which means that you have to register as a former customer using the ICS form.
  • DEFAM, Credivance and Alpha Credits Nederland are included under ALFAM. Did you have a revolving credit with one of these labels? And you don't have another product at any of these labels? Then you are a former ALFAM customer, which means you have to register as a former customer using the form.
Example:
You have had a revolving consumer credit with DEFAM. You have cancelled this product and you no longer have any other product with DEFAM. You are still a customer of ABN AMRO, for example, because you have a bank account there. In this example, you are a former DEFAM customer, but an active ABN AMRO customer. This means that you must apply as a former DEFAM customer using the form. You do not need to register with ABN AMRO.

Why did we organise things this way?
ABN AMRO, ICS and ALFAM (including DEFAM, Credivance and Alpha Credit Nederland) have separate records. This has to do with privacy legislation regarding the processing of personal data. We are not allowed to simply exchange data between the different labels.
We are currently working hard on a solution for offering compensation to all eligible former clients. We expect to be able to inform you about this in 2023. To stay abreast of the latest developments regarding the compensation scheme, sign up for our email updates  (in Dutch).
