More information and terms & conditions

What is Home Insurance?

Home insurance is ABN AMRO Schadeverzekering N.V.’s insurance policy that covers your home’s structures and permanent fixtures and fittings. With the basic cover, your home is also insured against fire, storm, lightning strike, vandalism, a vehicle colliding with your home, a tree falling on it and more. Read the terms and conditions.

If you took out your Home Insurance before 29 April 2012, your policy and its terms and conditions will be a little different (read about it in Dutch).

If you took out your Home Insurance before 15 October 2018, your policy and its terms and conditions will be a little different (read about it in Dutch).

Who it is for

Home insurance is for personal customers of ABN AMRO who own their own home in the Netherlands. Self-employed professionals' home offices for are also covered (up to 1 room).

When you buy a flat or apartment, the owners’ association (Vereniging van Eigenaren: VVE) will generally have already taken out home insurance, meaning you do not need to do this yourself.

Holiday homes are only covered if you live there permanently.

If you would like to take home insurance, you will need an ABN AMRO current account. The premium for your home insurance will be automatically debited from this account.

The premium for your Home Insurance will be automatically debited from this account.

Fees

Premium

How much premium you pay depends on what you would like to have covered. Calculate your premium easily.

Commission

ABN AMRO Bank N.V. provides personal customers with non-life insurance products and advises them on behalf of ABN AMRO Schadeverzekering N.V. ABN AMRO Bank N.V. receives a fee of 20% of the premium for this. You can read more about our services on our non-life insurance information sheet (Informatieblad Schadeverzekeringen).

Policy fee

You will receive one policy document for each type of insurance. The policy fee is €4.39 (including insurance tax). If you have another non-life insurance policy with ABN AMRO, you will not need to pay an additional policy fee if you take out ABN AMRO Home Insurance in this package.

Administration fee

If this is your first ABN AMRO non-life insurance policy, you will be charged an administration fee of €0.69 (including 21% insurance tax) for collecting the premium, which may be done monthly or annually. If you already have another non-life insurance policy with ABN AMRO, you will not be charged an administration fee this time.

Please note: all risks insurance does not cover all instances of damage. The following, for instance, are not covered:

  • Damage resulting from cleaning your kitchen worktop.
  • Damage to your parquet floor when you move a heavy cupboard.
  • All risks insurance also covers glass, so you will be insured for the cost of replacing glass in the event of sudden and unforeseen breakage during normal use. We also reimburse the cost of breakage of special glass like stained glass windows up to €1000.

For full details of what is covered, please read the terms and conditions.

Please note that the all risks cover has a compulsory excess of €100 per all risks claim.
