Change an Automatic Savings Plan

Can I set aside a fixed amount of money? Would you like to increase or decrease the amount of an automatic savings order? Read below how easy it is to change your automatic savings order.

Step 1

Choose Automatic Savings Plan
  • Log in to Internet Banking with your e.dentifier.

  • Select the current account from which the savings are automatically transferred.

  • An overview displays with all of your periodic transfers and automatic savings plans.

  • Click on the Pencil icon next to the plan you want to change.

  • The 'Transfer money' screen displays and you can change your savings plan.

Step 2

Change when and how often you set money aside
  • For 'Period' select 'Weekly', 'Monthly', or 'Quarterly'.

  • For 'Next execution on' enter the date on which you want the savings plan to be executed for the first time. You can also enter an end date.

  • If you would like to skip a month: Select the month and the option 'Do not execute in'.

  • If you would like to always skip the same one or two months: Select the months and the option 'Never execute in'.

Step 3

Change the amount you set aside
  • If you would like to save the same amount: Select 'Fixed' and enter the amount.

  • If you would like to set aside the money you have left in your current account at the end of the month: Select 'Balance-based'. In the 'Remaining balance' field, enter the balance you would like to have in your current account at the end of the month.

Frequently asked questions about the Automatic Savings Plan

  • What kind of account must I have in order to set up an Automatic Savings Plan?

    You must have a current account and a savings account. The savings account can be in the name of your child or grandchild.

    You cannot set up an Automatic Savings Plan for term deposits.

  • How can I set up an Automatic Savings Plan if I do not use Internet Banking?

    If you have a current account and a savings account with ABN AMRO but do not use Internet Banking, go to one of our branches or call 0900 - 81 70 (explanation of the rates) and ask one of our advisors to set up an Automatic Savings Plan for you.

    If you would you like to manage your Automatic Savings Plan yourself, simply submit a request for Internet Banking.

  • Can I skip an automatic transfer?

    If you are setting money aside each month, you can skip a month if you need the extra room. And if you expect to spend more at a specific time of year, every year, you can enter two months in which the automatic transfer does not take place by logging in to Internet Banking and choosing the months in your savings plan.

    If you have a weekly or quarterly savings plan, you will not be able to skip a week or a quarter.

  • When do I get interest on my savings?

    The amount that you automatically save is transferred from your current account to your savings account on the same day. You start earning interest on the date on which the amount is credited to your savings account.
