What protection does my Gold Card give me?

You are insured for things such as:

  • Delayed flights
  • Delayed luggage
  • Theft, loss or damage to your purchases
  • Delivery
  • Car legal expenses
  • Car rental excess

You are not insured for things such as:

  • Trip cancellation
  • Stolen luggage
  • Travel and accommodation not booked using your Gold Card
  • Damage or loss caused deliberately or through carelessness

Monthly income

Your net monthly income is at least €1,150. This means that you will not qualify for a Gold Card if you are on benefits.

Difference between Gold Card and Credit Card

Your Gold Card is an attractive, gold-coloured card, a real eye-catcher. It’s not just a pretty item though. This card gives more extensive protection than our regular credit card, like: 

  • Purchases insured for 365 days instead of 180 days 
  • Car legal expenses insurance, for when you encounter legal problems when hiring a car 
  • Car rental excess cover up to €500

Apply for your Gold Card and check your details. If these are incomplete, first add the missing information . On receiving your application,  International Card Services (ICS) will check this over .

Choose your PIN once your application has been processed, so that you will receive your Gold Card sooner. Once you have submitted your application, ICS will send you an email stating how to do this.

Once ICS has approved your application, you will receive your Gold Card at your home address within 5 to 10 days.

Gold Card FAQ

All purchases you make with your Gold Card are insured against theft, loss and damage for 365 days, whether you made the purchase online or in a shop. 

If you have a reason to submit a claim: 

  1. First call ABN AMRO Creditcard Services . We will check whether or not your loss or damage is covered 
  2. If your loss or damage is covered, we will send you a claim form
  3. Send the claim form to ABN AMRO Verzekeringen and they will process your claim
  4. You will hear back within 2 weeks whether your claim has been accepted and, if so, the amount of the reimbursement

Your excess is €50, meaning that if the insurer pays out you will still need to cover the first €50 yourself.

The standard Gold Card limit is €5,000 per month. If you need to raise your spending limit for a short period, you can simply transfer money to your Gold Card account. However, you may want to raise your limit permanently, in which case you can arrange this via Credit Card Online.

Applying for a Gold card online is a breeze. It works like this:

  1. Fill in the application form  
  2. International Card Services (ICS) will check your details and will contact you if they have any questions 
  3. Select your PIN 
  4. Your Gold Card will arrive at your home address in 5 to 10 working days

If you no longer need your Gold Card, you are free to cancel it. The period of notice for cancelling the Gold Card is 1 month. While we are sorry to hear that you want to cancel your card, we are happy to help you make the necessary arrangements

  1. Log in to Creditcard Online
  2. Go to ‘personal details and settings’
  3. In the menu, select ‘cancel card(s)’
  4. State why you want to cancel your Gold Card and confirm your request
  5. You will receive a letter confirming your cancellation and stating until what date you can still use your Gold Card

An ABN AMRO Gold Card costs  €3.90  per month. You can also request an additional Gold Card for your partner or adult child. The fee for this is €2 per month.

  • The extra Gold Card will be in the name of the additional cardholder. This is useful when hiring a car since car rental companies insist that the card used is in the name of the person booking the car.
  • The spending limit applies to both cards combined
  • You can view the purchases on both cards
