How to protect your money even better
Push notifications
By enabling push notifications, you'll receive alerts from the app whenever money is debited from your account, for example. If you've unknowingly given fraudsters access to your login details (phishing), these notifications allow you to act quickly and limit financial damage.
It's easy to set up push notifications in the app.
Daily transfer limit
Your 'daily transfer limit' is the total amount that you can transfer each day using the app. This includes iDEAL-Wero payments and payment requests like Tikkie. Don't set your daily transfer limit too high. This way, you can limit the financial losses if a scammer asks you to transfer money quickly (social media fraud).
You can change your daily transfer limit in the ABN AMRO app. It takes 4 hours for your new daily limit to come into effect.
Tip: Set your daily limit to match your personal situation. Not so low that you can no longer do your daily banking, and not so high that you run the risk of major financial losses in the event of fraud.
Savings Lock
If you want to give your savings extra protection against scammers who put pressure on you to transfer money quickly (bank help desk fraud), turn the Savings Lock on. This creates a 24-hour waiting period before you can transfer your savings to another account.
It' s easy to turn on the Savings Lock in the ABN AMRO app or on Internet Banking.
Card limit
Your card limit is the amount you can withdraw from an ATM or spend in shops each day using your debit card. Minimise financial losses if someone steals or swaps your debit card (debit card fraud) by keeping your card limit low.
It's easy to change your card limit in the app or on Internet Banking.
Tip: Be sure to set a smart card limit. Not so low that you can no longer do your daily banking, and not so high that you run the risk of major financial losses in the event of fraud.
Payment profile
By keeping your debit card set to 'Europe', you'll be better protected if someone secretly copies your debit card details (debit card fraud), as scammers will not be able to use your debit card outside Europe.
Only set your debit card's payment profile to 'World' if you’re travelling outside Europe. You can change your payment profile in just a few steps in the app or on Internet Banking.
Call Check
If you receive a call from ABN AMRO and aren't sure whether you're really speaking to an ABN AMRO employee (bank help desk fraud), ask for a Call Check.
The employee will then send you a message in the ABN AMRO app or on Internet Banking. Once you see this message, you can be certain that it's really us.
