You have access to shares in the most high-profile companies in the Netherlands, Europe and America, and can also choose from a wide range of investment funds and ETFs offered by several reputable asset management companies.

In determining the investment scope, we have been careful to ensure that investors have enough choice to create a personal investment portfolio with a broad spread. For example, you can choose between investment funds that spread their investment capital across shares, bonds or other investment categories, or funds that adopt a regional spread: Europe, North America and emerging markets. You can even choose between funds that invest in specific themes, such as sustainable energy, water and healthcare.

Self Directed Investing Basic gives you access to opinions, current news and a sustainability indicator for the different shares, so that you are always well-informed when you invest.

The risks

You should only invest money that you do not need and that is surplus to your buffer for unforeseen expenses. While investments can be profitable, they are also associated with risks. You could lose all or part of your initial investment, so you need to be aware of this. We advise you to limit your investment activities to products that match your knowledge and experience.

When you use Self Directed Investing Basic, you make your own choices without any advice from us. If you are aware of the risks associated with investments, you will be better able to judge the level of risk that you find acceptable and avoid unpleasant surprises.

Terms and conditions
Fees

This is what you pay us

You pay us service fees and transaction fees. Service fees are charges for administering your investment portfolio and providing information in relation to that portfolio. You pay transaction fees when you buy and sell your shares and holdings in ETFs.

This is what you pay other parties

If you have investment funds in your portfolio, you must bear in mind the costs incurred by these funds. These are external costs; e.g. management fees and administration charges. We refer to these as ongoing charges and they are already incorporated in the investment fund prices. The Key Investor Information for each fund specifies the costs.

Summary of the fees you pay

Type of fee

Rate

Service fees

0,2% of the value of your investment portfolio.

From € 100,000, the service fee amount to 0.12%, from € 400,000 the service fees amount 0.06%

Transaction fees per order

  • Investment funds: no transaction fees
  • Domestic shares: €5 + 0.05% of the order value, per order
  • Foreign shares: €10 + 0.10% of the order value, per order
  • ETFs: €5 + 0.05% of the order value, per order

You pay fees when you invest, and these fees reduce your return. Your investments are also associated with risk, so you should carefully consider whether investing is (still) suitable for you, or whether a savings account would be a better solution.

Calculation example

ABN AMRO provides accurate information about annual investment costs based on example profiles. These example profiles show what the expected annual costs will be if you invest in the same way, or roughly the same way, as the example profile would. We show you a number of different example profiles and each profile has its own characteristics.

Choose the example profile that best matches your investment portfolio and investment behaviour. The annual costs for the investor profile are similar to the costs that you will incur. This gives you an idea of the expected annual investment costs before you start to make any investments.

Impact of costs on your return

This calculation example shows the impact that all the fees and costs have on your investment. We have used a fixed return of 4% a year in the calculation. Your actual return may be different of course. This fixed return allows you to make an effective comparison between our costs and fees and those of other parties offering investment services.

This is not a forecast, purely an example. If the return is higher or lower than in the example, the fees and costs will also be higher and lower in most cases.

Sustainable investments

Sustainable investments are investment products where the consequences of the investment play a key role. This is also referred to as socially responsible investment. The sustainable investor wants to help to create a better world, and is not only interested in the environment, but also in protecting human rights and supporting education.

Socially responsible investment is a key principle within ABN AMRO. Some investments are completely excluded from all the forms of investment that we offer, for example, investments in manufacturers of cluster bombs and land mines.

If you would like to invest in sustainable investment funds, use our convenient Fund Selector to find out how sustainable the funds you have chosen are.
