Car insurance with Third-Party Liability cover

Third-party cover is insurance that covers your legal liability, i.e. your liability for any damage you cause to others with your car. Please note that cover is provided only if you are actually legally liable. If you own a car, you are required by law to at least take out third-party liability insurance for it. Third-party liability cover does not cover damage to your car. If you want cover for damage to your car as well, you should take out Third-Party Liability + Limited Cover or Third-Party Liability + Comprehensive Cover.

What does third-party liability insurance cover and what does it not cover?

You are insured for things such as:

Damage...

  • Suffered by others caused by your car
  • Suffered by others caused by a load falling off your car
  • Suffered by others and caused by a trailer towed by your car
  • To your car's trim and caused by transportation of a casualty

You are not insured for things such as:

Damage caused by...

  • Fire or lightning strike
  • Theft or attempted theft
  • A collision with an animal
  • A collision
  • Vandalism
