Paying your premium

Information on paying your insurance premiums

Find out how to pay and change your insurance premiums and how to deal with payment reminders.

Paying and changing your premium

You will always pay your premium by direct debit. Our account number is NL63 ABNA 0848 8445 04. In Internet Banking, you can check your premium amount and payment terms. You can do this as follows:

  1. Log into  Internet Banking
  2. Click 'Self service'
  3. Click 'Manage your products'
  4. Under 'Arrange more', you can check which insurance policies you have. You can also find your policy document here.

If you don’t have Internet Banking yet, please contact us.

It is currently not possible to view your insurance policies in the ABN AMRO app.

Want to pay with a different account number or in different payment terms? Contact ABN AMRO Verzekeringen on 038 496 70 84 (Monday to Friday from 8am to 5.30pm). Alternatively, you can send an email to premie@abnamroverzekeringen.nl . Make sure you specify your policy number in your email. The change will take effect on the next insurance renewal date.

NB: you select one payment term only. This payment term applies to all your ABN AMRO insurance policies as the premium is debited from your account in one go.

Payment reminder received

It can happen that a direct debit payment fails unexpectedly and we send you a payment reminder. Below we explain why a direct debt payment might not go through and what to do when that happens.

Insufficient balance
If you have insufficient balance on your account, ABN AMRO Verzekeringen will make two attempts to debit the premium from your account. After the first failed attempt, you will receive a letter saying that we will try again. You will be asked to make sure there is sufficient balance on the account. If the payment fails to go through a second time, you will receive an initial payment reminder. We will send you the reminder roughly 22 days after the payment should have been made.

We will then ask you to manually transfer the premium to account number NL63 ABNA 0848 8245 04 in the name of ABN AMRO Schadeverzekeringen N.V. Always mention your package number in the payment description. This number is specified on your policy document.

A direct debit block
It can happen that direct debit transactions are blocked for your account. In that case, ABN AMRO Verzekeringen will not be able to debit the premium from your account. You can remove the block yourself through Internet Banking.

If you don’t have Internet Banking yet, contact ABN AMRO Verzekeringen on 038 496 70 84  (Monday to Friday from 8am to 5.30pm).

How to remove a block through Internet Banking:

  1. Log into Internet Banking and go to 'Settings'
  2. Select 'Direct debit settings' twice
  3. You will see a summary of your blocked direct debits. Select the direct debit for ABN AMRO Verzekeringen
  4. Select 'Always allow'
  5. Send the order

If you have not paid after the first payment reminder, you will receive a second reminder. You will then have 21 days to pay. The letter will also explain the consequences of not paying the premium. You will no longer be covered in the event of a claim and you will not be insured again until you have paid all your outstanding premiums.

How to proceed
If we have not received your payment after 21 days, you will receive a letter containing a policy document informing you that you are no longer covered in the event of a claim. If you have a car insurance policy with us, we will cancel the registration number with the RDW (National Vehicle and Driving Licence Registration Authority). That means you will no longer be allowed to drive the car because you are no longer fulfilling your legal obligation to insure it. You run the risk of being fined by the Central Judicial Collection Agency (CJIB).

If we have not received your payment two weeks after that, we will terminate your insurance. You will receive a letter informing you about this.

If you receive a payment reminder after the premium has since been paid, you can ignore the letter. If you have paid too much premium, we will offset the amount against your next premium payment.
