Passenger insurance
Additional insurance for your passengers

A car accident is always distressing. Particularly if you or one of your passengers is injured or your luggage or belongings are damaged. ABN AMRO car insurance offers additional insurance that includes insurance for passengers.
There are two types of passenger insurance cover: passenger accident insurance and passenger damage insurance.
The benefits of passenger accident insurance
You might be wondering why you need passenger accident insurance as passengers involved in a car accident can claim for damage on the personal liability insurance of the person who caused the accident, and medical costs are reimbursed by the healthcare insurance company. But additional passenger insurance cover can be very useful.
- If you are driving and cause an accident yourself, damage to luggage and financial compensation for loss of earnings are not part of the standard cover. Not even if you have third-party liability + comprehensive cover. They are, however, covered if you have additional passenger insurance.
- Healthcare insurance does not cover the cost of a funeral, for example, and neither does it cover personal injury costs or permanent disability, whereas passenger insurance does.
- If no one is to blame for causing the accident, the costs are not always covered, but you will be able to claim if you have passenger insurance.
- Your claim will be dealt with faster, and compensation will be paid out sooner. This is because having passenger insurance means that compensation doesn’t depend on who caused the accident.
