Equal facilities for every player

A level playing field is not yet a given everywhere in the world of hockey. At the Euro Hockey League (EHL), we demonstrate that things can be done differently. Through our sponsorship, we ensure that all hockey players are treated equally in terms of budget, programming and exposure. The result: larger audiences, increased media attention, greater sponsor interest and further professionalisation of the sport.

Woman and Man of the Match

During the Euro Hockey League, we introduce the Woman of the Match award. Alongside Man of the Match, this is an honour that should really have existed long ago. All players who receive this award in their final match are also presented with a €2,500 cheque to donate to an initiative that promotes equal opportunities within the sport of hockey, such as the Esther Vergeer Foundation, Jeugdfonds Sport & Culture or the Play Mental Foundation.

Win tickets to the EHL

Would you like to attend the Euro Hockey League, watch top players such as Xan de Waard and Duco Telgenkamp in action, and give your child the chance to take part in a unique hockey clinic (ages 8–14)? Then enter our prize draw before 26 March. For the EHL semi-finals on 5 April, we are giving away no fewer than 100 tickets, including participation in an exclusive hockey clinic.

Para hockey players in action at the EHL

The para hockey final is scheduled for Saturday 4 April, a great opportunity to come along and cheer on your favourite team. There is plenty to do on Sunday 5 April as well. On that day, the Brabant Sport Fonds, together with LevelUp, ABN AMRO and the Esther Vergeer Foundation, will be hosting a fantastic para hockey clinic (G and LG) with top players.

How hockey is becoming increasingly equal

On the field, the rules are the same for everyone, but off the field things are often different. In hockey, men’s teams received far more attention than women’s teams for many years. But that is changing. Olympic champions Maria Verschoor (31) and Xan de Waard (30) talk about the journey towards equal opportunities, the power of a committed sponsor, and how small changes can create a big impact.

Time to catch up: levelling the playing field between men and women

With Time to catch up, we have been committed to tackling inequality in hockey since 2020. As a sponsor of more than 55 hockey clubs, we aim to achieve equal facilities, salaries and opportunities for women and men within five years. Thanks to this programme, women’s teams are now also taking part in the European Hockey League (EHL). Since 2025, a model of equal treatment for men’s and women’s teams has also applied to clubs in the Hoofdklasse. This includes an equal distribution of roles in club boards, as well as among coaches and trainers.

Equal opportunities

When talent is given the space to grow, opportunities arise — for people and for society as a whole. That is why we are committed to supporting everyone with ambition who encounters barriers on the way to achieving their goals. Together with partners in sport, arts & culture and society, we help break down those barriers. We do so by providing a platform, offering financial support, and putting our expertise and network to work. In this way, we make every beginning possible — no matter how small — because we know that a small beginning can have a big impact.
