Buying a property in the Netherlands as an expat? Do it with extra confidence
SureStarter will help you, as an expat, put in an offer with peace of mind and confidence. It’s an additional service alongside your mortgage that helps you get clarity more quickly during the home buying process, while you will still cover the usual costs for advice and property valuation yourself. If your offer is accepted, you’ll receive clarity on your mortgage within the statutory cooling-off period. You’ll also get personal guidance tailored to your (international) situation. We’ll clearly explain the Dutch buying process, so you know exactly where you stand.

How SureStarter helps you move forward
Quickly find out how much you can borrow
In a free orientation meeting, an international mortgage adviser will calculate roughly how much you can borrow and what that means in terms of monthly payments. We’ll also discuss specific things that are often important to expats, like your employment situation and the documents you need. This’ll help you be more targeted in your search and when putting in an offer on a property.
Valuation within 4 working days
Once your offer’s been accepted, arrange a valuation straight away. Our partners at Maatwerk Woondiensten will have the valuation report ready for you within 4 working days. If you’d prefer to get your own appraiser, you can, as long as you have a valuation report within 4 working days. This way, you’ll be prepared before you sign the purchase contract, because that’s when the statutory 3-day cooling-off period starts. You’re responsible for covering the costs of the valuation.
Clarity within 3 days
If you submit all the important documents on time, we’ll assess your application quickly and you’ll get clarity about your home finance within 3 days (including at least 2 working days). Sometimes expats need to submit extra documents. Your adviser will tell you in advance what you need to submit, so your application is complete and you avoid delays.
