Transfer of your loan to ABN AMRO Kredieten B.V.
Answers to frequently asked questions
You've received a letter from us about the transfer of your loan. Your loan will be transferred from ABN AMRO Bank N.V. to ABN AMRO Kredieten B.V. We understand that you may have some questions about this, so we've answered some common questions below.
Questions about the reasons for the transfer and what this means for you
Why is my loan being transferred from ABN AMRO Bank N.V. to ABN AMRO Kredieten B.V.?
In November 2025, ABN AMRO announced that Alfam Holding N.V. and its subsidiaries (including ABN AMRO Kredieten) will be taken over by Rabobank. Alfam and Rabobank subsidiary Freo will continue as a single provider of consumer loans. The transfer of your loan(s) to ABN AMRO Kredieten is necessary to make this acquisition possible. The acquisition will only proceed if the regulators approve it.
What does the transfer mean for my loan? Will anything change for me at this time (terms, interest rate, duration, service)?
The loan
There will be no changes to the terms of your loan(s).
- Your monthly payment, interest and loan term will remain exactly the same.
- The direct debit continues as usual.
- All the legal rules that protect you remain in force.
- Also, any arrangements you have made with us personally won’t change.
Service and contact
You can still view your loan(s) in the ABN AMRO app and on Internet Banking. You can also still contact us in the usual way. If this changes, you'll be informed in good time.
Why is my consent needed and what does that mean for me?
Another organisation, called ABN AMRO Kredieten, is taking over your contract and will thereby become your new contracting party. They are taking over all rights and obligations under the contract. There will be no changes to the terms of your loan(s).
Such a contract transfer may only take place with your consent. We will assume that you have no objection to this contract transfer, unless you inform us otherwise.
What happens if I do nothing or do not respond?
We'll arrange the transfer of your loan(s) to ABN AMRO Kredieten for you. You don't need to do anything yourself. You'll receive a confirmation once we've transferred your loan(s).
Until when can I let you know that I don’t consent to the transfer?
If you have any questions, or don't want your loan to be transferred, please let us know before 24 July 2026. Find out how to get in touch.

Will I get a new contract?
No, you won’t receive a new contract. The agreements in your contract and the terms of the loan remain the same.
Does my interest rate stay the same?
Yes, the agreements in your contract remain the same. The interest rate will not change as a result of the transfer.
Can I still view my loan on Internet Banking or in the ABN AMRO app?

Questions about payments and practical matters
Will my direct debit date stay the same?
Yes, the direct debit date remains the same. If that changes in the future, you’ll be informed in good time.
Do I need to set up my direct debit again?
No, the transfer does not require you to issue a new direct debit authorisation. The direct debit is already carried out by ABN AMRO Kredieten on behalf of ABN AMRO Bank. ABN AMRO Kredieten will continue to carry out the direct debit after the transfer.
Will the account number (IBAN) that I transfer money to or that is used for direct debits change?
No, the transfer won’t change the account number. If the account number changes in the future, you'll be informed in good time.
Can I still make extra repayments and are there any fees involved?
The terms of the loan won’t change. So you can always repay more than agreed. If you decide to make extra repayments, or pay off the loan in one go, you won’t be charged any kind of extra fee for that. Would you like to know more about making extra repayments on your loan?
Can I transfer my loan?
Yes, refinancing is still possible. Whether you’re eligible for a new loan to pay off your current loan depends on your personal situation, your income and your expenses.
Questions about service and contact options
Will there be any changes to the service or contact options?
Nothing will change to the service. You can also still contact us as you normally would. If that changes in the future, you’ll be informed in good time.
Questions about BKR registration and payment arrears
Does the transfer affect my registration with the Dutch Credit Registration Office (BKR) (status, codes)?
No, your BKR registration does not change as a result of the transfer.
I’m behind on my payments. What does the transfer mean for my payment plan?
The payment plan you agreed with us will not change.
Who is my contact person for payment arrears?
Do you have payment problems or are you behind on your payments? You don’t have to find a solution on your own. Our advisers will be happy to help you, please feel free to contact them.
If the contact person for arrears changes in the future, you’ll be informed in good time.
Questions about the proposed sale of Alfam and ABN AMRO Kredieten to Rabobank

Other questions
How do I submit a complaint?
Are you not satisfied and would you like to make a complaint? Please let us know.
How does ABN AMRO handle my personal data?
We always take your privacy into account. We'd like to tell you how we process your personal data.
What are security interests?
Security interests are rights that give us greater certainty that we will get our money back if you do not repay your loan(s). Think for example of a mortgage on a house (if you also have a mortgage with us) or a pledge on the balance in your current and/or savings account with us. If you don't repay the loan on time, we may use that security interest under certain conditions to recover (part of) the borrowed money. Given that your loan is being transferred to ABN AMRO Kredieten, we are partially releasing these security interests. The security interests therefore no longer apply to the loans that are being transferred to ABN AMRO Kredieten.
