Frequently asked questions

The ABN AMRO app uses the latest security features: the software is updated every other week. The banking environment is completely closed, just like Internet Banking. Your data is encrypted and transmitted via a secure connection. When you use the ABN AMRO app to log in to Internet Banking, you can rest assured that our QR codes are unique and particularly secured against fraud and forgeries. After you scan the code, the app will ask you to enter your personal identification code, so it’s twice as secure.

If you can’t install or update the app, or you’ve forgotten your identification code, you can read what to do in the app FAQ on this page. If you’re having trouble, go to Service and Contact.

No, that’s not necessary. You only use the ABN AMRO app to log in. Once you are logged in to Internet Banking, you will no longer need your device. You can proceed with your banking as usual, on your laptop or PC. Of course, you can use mobile banking if you like.

Logging in with a QR code - how it works

Yes, you can still use the e.dentifier to log in to Internet Banking after installing the app. Note that we’ll be phasing out this device altogether in the future. The ABN AMRO app will then replace the e.dentifier.

For now you can already try logging in with the ABN AMRO app. Use the app to scan the QR code on the Internet Banking log-in screen. That’s convenient, as you’ll probably have your phone or tablet nearby anyway. It’s also more secure because you can continuously update the app - and the security features - to the latest version. Find out more about logging in using the app.

If you have both a personal and a business account with us, you can add an additional profile to the app. This way you always have easy access to your banking, just under separate profiles.

We work on security and improvements every day. As a result, we can regularly offer you a new version of the app. If your mobile phone with the ABN AMRO app lets you know that a new update is available, you should install it immediately. This ensures that the app is always secure to use.

When you use the ABN AMRO app for the first time, you set your own 5-digit identification code. For more information about downloading the app and using it for the first time, see our Getting started with the ABN AMRO app page.
