This can be done 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, immediately after you have activated your debit card or at a later date. Always choose a PIN number that you can easily remember yourself, but that others can’t guess.

In the event of theft or loss, it is a good idea to block your card. The cost of a new card is €7.50. You can easily do this yourself via Internet Banking or Mobile Banking. Found your card again? You can also unblock your card yourself via Internet Banking or Mobile Banking.

New debit card design
ABN AMRO's debit card has been given a fresh new design. This new card is clearly recognisable and will now stand out even more among all the other cards in your wallet. Furthermore, the text is easier to read and we have put the card number on the back of the debit card.
Reserved amounts on your account
A reserved amount is an amount that is temporarily reserved when you make a payment using your debit card. This lets the seller know that you can pay the amount.
Let’s say you fill up your car at a pay-at-pump petrol station. You don’t know in advance how much you need to pay. You insert your debit card, the petrol station reserves an amount (e.g. €150) and once you’ve finished filling up your car, the petrol station debits the final amount from your account. You see the actual amount charged and the name of the petrol station on your account overview, rather than ‘Reserved amounts’.
The words ‘Reserved amounts’ and the amount reserved are only displayed on your account overview temporarily. You’ll see them on Internet Banking or in the ABN AMRO app, but not on your paper bank statements.
