New payment and conditions from 1 January 2026

Read the new terms and conditions that apply from 1 January 2026:

Part 2 of the General Terms and Conditions of ABN AMRO Bank N.V. has been revised and rewritten in simpler language. New articles have been added on combating money laundering, promoting sustainability, and force majeure. Furthermore, Internet Banking (with or without the app) has been set as a standard communication channel.

Change to the terms and conditions for a Student Package

The terms and conditions for our Student Package will change on 1 January 2026. As of that date, you will be eligible for a free student account if you are actively studying and between the ages of 18 and 25. The account is currently for students aged between 16 and 30, for a maximum of 7 years. What does this mean exactly?

  • If you’re currently aged 25 or older, from January 2026 you will have a Basic Payment Package, for which you’ll pay a monthly fee.
  • If you turn 25 in 2026, you will be switched to a Basic Payment Package in the month following your birthday.
  • If you’re currently 16 or 17 years old, you will keep your Student Package until you turn 25. Your account number, debit card and access to the ABN AMRO app will of course all remain the same. If you have a Student credit card, we will convert it into an ABN AMRO credit card. You can continue using the same card.

If you currently have a Medical Students Package, the terms and conditions will not change and you can continue using the package until you turn 30.

No more printed quarterly statements

If you receive a printed bank statement every quarter, this will stop as of 1 January 2026, as we will no longer be offering this service. From then on, you’ll receive a monthly statement, for which we charge €1.25 per month. You can of course opt to view and download bank statements and overviews free of charge on Internet Banking and in the ABN AMRO app.

Why are the fees changing?

Your banking is important, and we want you to be able to bank securely and easily with personal help whenever you need it and the latest payment methods, apps and security tools. Have you ever heard of ABN AMRO Helps, for example? Or the Call Check? We need to invest in updating services like these, which is why we are changing some of our fees and terms and conditions as of 1 January 2026.
