The new payment package for everyone

From 1 October 2020, all ABN AMRO payment packages will be converted into a Basic Payment Package. This will happen automatically. No action is required on your part. The Basic Payment Package includes a current account, debit card and online banking. You decide which payment products you want besides this package. That way, you only pay for what you really need.

Do you have a current account that is not part of a payment package and would you like to get the Basic Payment Package? Then you should switch to an EasyPay Standard package first. This package will automatically be converted into a Basic Payment Package on 1 October 2020.

Banking as usual

The Basic Payment Package lets you make transfers and online iDEAL payments any time, anywhere. The money will usually be credited to the recipient’s account straight away. This package also lets you pay in euros by debit card throughout Europe with no additional charge. Simply use your debit card, your wearable or Apple Pay. If you want to use your debit card outside Europe, simply set your payment profile to ‘World’.

Fees

We continue to invest to innovate and improve our payment products, so we can offer you the best possible service. Also, our costs have gone up in recent times. This is partly because we have to comply with new legislation and regulations, such as on the prevention of financial crime. Thanks to these investments, we are able to keep offering you the service and security you have come to expect from us. All of this affects our fees. As of 1 October 2020, our fees will be as follows:

Were you born before 1 January 1945? Then the sending of monthly and two-weekly statements, transfer forms, giro transfers and bank envelopes are free of charge. For a full list of all fees, take a look at the complete overview of fees.

What this means for you

After 1 October 2020, you will keep the products that you currently have. The only difference is that we will charge your extra payment products separately from the Basic Payment Package. Put together your own package

It is entirely up to you to decide which extra products you want alongside your Basic Payment Package alongside the basic services. You could add a credit card, for example, or an additional debit card. Put together your package exactly the way you want it and pay only for what you use. This page provides more information about additional products.

Applying for or cancelling a credit card

A credit card is more or less crucial when you are travelling, and it’s also good to have for online bookings and purchases. Another advantage is that almost all purchases are covered against theft, loss or damage for 180 days. 

It is of course up to you whether or not you use your credit card. If you no longer need your credit card, you are free to cancel it. While we’ll be sorry to hear that you want to cancel your credit card, we’ll be happy to help you make the necessary arrangements. 

If you want to switch from an ABN AMRO Credit Card to an ABN AMRO Gold Card or vice versa, you can do so on Creditcard Online.

Requesting or cancelling a debit card

If you want to request a new debit card, for instance, because yours is damaged or you’ve lost it, or you want to request an additional one, you can do it online in no time. 

If you want to close your debit card please call +31 (0)20 343 43 43 . (our colleagues at Private Assistance are available on business days until 21.00h and on Saturday until 17.30h)

Setting payment alerts

A payment alert is a notification you receive whenever there is activity in your account, such as when your salary has been credited. You decide which alerts you receive, and you can enable or disable them whenever you want. 

If you have an EasyPay Extra or EasyPay Max package, these text alerts will cost €0.20 each from 1 October 2020. Payment alerts in the ABN AMRO app will continue to be free. If you want to disable text message alerts, it couldn’t be easier.

Frequently asked questions about the Basic Payment Package

The new fees will take effect on 1 October 2020. In October, the new amount will be debited for the first time.

To check which payment package you currently have, first log in on Internet Banking. Next, go to ‘Self-service’ and click ‘Manage my products’. This is where you will see an overview of all your products, including your payment package.
