Benefits of a Jongerengroeirekening

  • Spend and save easily: pay your phone contract, for example, or set money aside for shopping
  • Never overdrawn: your child can never spend more than what is in the account
  • Decide what your child can and can’t do: your child learns how to manage their money at their own pace

What you can set

  • Whether or not your child is allowed to make payments
  • Whether or not your child has access to Internet Banking and/or the Mobile Banking app
  • Payment alerts: receive a text or email notification when money comes in or goes out, allowing you to stay up-to-date on any activity on your child’s account and giving you peace of mind

More information and terms & conditions

For whom
The Jongerengroeirekening is for children between the ages of 0 and 18.
Standard components
  • Current account
  • Jongeren debit card
Standard card limit
As standard, your child can make cash withdrawals up to €150 and make payment terminal payments up to €150. Your child can therefore spend up to €300 per day. You can choose to reduce the card limit. You can of course also prevent your child from using the debit card at all.
Contactless payments
Your child can make contactless payments with the Jongeren debit card. Payments of up to €25 can be made without needing to enter the card’s pin and the maximum contactless payment limit is €50. Your child can make two successive contactless payments, up to a total of €50 and will automatically be required to enter their pin when the €50 limit is reached.
After your child turns 18
When your son or daughter turns 18, their account will automatically be converted to a free Student Package. The account number will stay the same. Because your child will then be an adult and can make his or her own decisions, we will automatically block your access to the account.
Interest

Each quarter, we pay interest on the amount held in the Jongerengroeirekening during the respective period. The interest rate currently stands at a maximum of 0.02%. This rate is subject to change at any time. Find out more about how the quarterly interest works. The interest rate will change to 0.01% from 1 January 2020.

Deposit insurance scheme
The Jongerengroeirekening current account is covered by the deposit insurance scheme, meaning that your child’s money is protected if we are no longer able to meet our obligations. For more information, please visit abnamro.nl/depositguaranteescheme.
Terms and conditions
