Daily limit

Your Debit Card has a daily limit, i.e. a maximum amount that you can withdraw in one day. You can change this daily limit any time you like in consultation with ABN AMRO. ABN AMRO suggests the following amounts: 

  • € 2.500,- for payment terminals worldwide
  • € 500,- for ABN AMRO ATMs and € 250,- for other banks’ ATMs in the Netherlands
  • € 150,- for the Chipknip
  • € 500,- for ATMs abroad 

The amount of cash you can withdraw each day from an ATM abroad also depends on the country and the bank in question. The local bank can only reduce your limit, not increase it. 

Changing your limit At present most cards still have an ATM limit of € 1,000. We have found that for most clients an ATM limit of € 500 is sufficient, so on new cards the limit has been set at € 500. Even if you already have a World Pass, you may choose to have this lower limit, which is an easy way of reducing the risk in the event of your card being misused. To change your limit or if you have any questions, please drop by at one of our branches or call the the Advies en Service Center on 0900 - 00 24 (€ 0.10 per minute).      
Charges View the Debit Card charges in the Overview of personal banking fees. The total charges will be debited quarterly.
Charges for using ATMs
  • Withdrawing euros in the Netherlands and all euro countries is free
  • Withdrawing currencies other than the euro: € 2.25 + 1.2% exchange rate surcharge 
Charges for using payment terminals
  • Payments in euros in the Netherlands and all euro countries are free of charge
  • Payments in currencies other than the euro: € 0.15 + 1.2% exchange rate surcharge per payment 
Cancelling your card

In the event of theft or loss, call in the Netherlands: 0900 - 00 24 (€ 0.10 per minute), from outside the Netherlands: +31 10 24 11 720 (normal rate). 
Are you a Standby Service user? In that case, in the Netherlands call: 0800 - 07 01 (local rate), from outside the Netherlands: +31 20 651 59 27 (collect call).
