Safety check in 5 steps
Always bank securely
When using Internet Banking, you want to be able to do so without running any risks. That is why it is imperative that your computer is free of viruses and that it stays that way. A virus on your PC will increase the chance of criminals being able to abuse your account. If you follow the advice below, you will bank securely and minimize the risks.
- Always check the yellow padlock and the certificate.
- Always verify your balance and payment orders in ‘Account Balance’.
- Install an active and up-to-date virus scanner and firewall on your computer. Make sure your operating system has the latest (security) updates installed. More information about this is available on the website of the manufacturer of your operating system.
- Only download and/or install software from sources you know or trust. Installing software from an unknown or mistrusted source will lead to a risk of installing a virus on your PC.
- Never open email attachments if you are unsure about their contents. Even if you know the sender of the email, but are unsure about the attachment, it is best not to open it. It may be that criminals are sending email from the email account of someone you know, and have attached a virus. ABN AMRO will never send its customers any unsolicited emails with an attachment.
