New European regulations regarding payment services

The relationship with your bank is governed by the general terms and conditions that relate to banking services and products. These terms and conditions specify your rights and obligations as well as those of your bank. New, uniform European regulations regarding payment transactions will come into force on 1 November 2009.

General terms and conditions
The entry into force of these new regulations will bring about changes to the General Terms and Conditions of all banks within the Netherlands. What is more, ABN AMRO is introducing new Terms and Conditions governing Customer Relations. These terms and conditions will govern the general issues that specifically apply between ABN AMRO and its clients. For example, they will contain basic rules regarding communication with ABN AMRO and electronic access to your bank details. The amended 'General Terms and Conditions of Banking' and the new 'Terms and Conditions for Customer Relations' are to be merged into one. From 1 November 2009 onwards, they will be known as the 'General Terms and Conditions of ABN AMRO Bank N.V.'.

New Terms and Conditions for Payment Services
The new regulations have also resulted in a revised set of 'Terms and Conditions for Payment Services'. These Terms and Conditions will incorporate the new European regulations regarding the clear provision of information to clients and the processing dates for payment services. The existing 'Terms and Conditions for the use of ABN AMRO Bank Cards' will lapse with effect from 1 November 2009.
