Investing on the Financial Markets
Traditionally, investments on the stock exchange were made through a financial advisor or a bank. Since the early 1990s, more and more people have chosen to invest independently, placing their orders without the assistance of an intermediary. There are, however, still a lot of customers who prefer to use the personal service offered by our Investment Specialists or Preferred Bankers.
In the Netherlands, approximately 950,000 households currently invest in shares, investment funds, bonds or derivatives. The number of online investors has continued to increase over the last few years. Some 50% of investors now place their orders online, compared to about 25% in 2003.
